As expected, week 1 opening lines definitely produce some interesting opportunities. Without too much homework, here are few that catch our eye right away . . .
Georgia +6 at OK St - The Cowboys have a lot of talent and hype on offensive, but will that really hold true against a very solid SEC defense like Georgia? Playing at home week 1 is certainly an advantage, but kind of like the Bulldogs getting 6 points against a very suspect OK St D.
Minn -6.5 at Cuse - Minnie isn't going to be good and so taking them laying almost a TD on the road in the opener may be tough, but they are playing Cuse, enough said.
Va Tech +6.5 vs Bama (neutral site) - defenitely going to be defensive battle (O/U of 38 supports that) and Bama's O is certainly questionable, but Va Tech's D will surely be as solid as usual. While Bama's D will likely be equally strong, getting 6.5 points in a game in which neither team will likely score 20 points is nice.
LSU - 16 @ Wash - LSU is somewhat of an unknown this year, but can't believe they have not righted the ship after last year's poor performance and Wash is not good (at all). LSU will have something to prove and Wash will not have enough, even with 16 points.
Well, certainly more to come as the games get closer, but wanted to provide a few thoughts based upon the opening lines.
