Week 14 CFB picks

Alright, another struggle last week at 2-3 and I've also been on a bad in college hoops, so time to snap out of it as the CFB season nears the end. I admit, the Chicago Kid's first season, although positive, has been less than stellar and not what I expect out of myself; but I can only control the future so it is time to finish strong.

Cincy -1 @ Pitt. Alright, I admit, I don't understand this line; sometimes that slows me down a little bit, but not here. I think Pitt is solid, but far from great and will be over-matched in this contest. First, the Bearcats have better players. Second, the Bearcats have a better (much) coach. Third, this game means more, including a potential trip to the BCS (and dare say, national championship game). Yes, it is at Pitt, so I'm being a road warrior again, but I'm good with that here. Cincy should be able to move the ball on Pitt consistently, and while Pitt will score some points, I don't think they'll be able to keep up. 4.5 units. Push. Cincy did what they could to lose, but pulled out a win - I blame myself, I saw the line at a pick and hesitated.

New Mexico State +48 @ Boise St. Yes, the Blue Guys are better, much better; but really 48 points. Enough said, I'm taking the points. 2 units (how can you put more than that on NMS, even getting 48) Win, didn't even need quite all of the 48.

USC -7 vs Arizona. Yep, I'm taking a home team. I'll be honest, I'm a little skeptical here because last year, at Arizona, USC screwed me by not completing a big 3-game parlay for me, but at home I think they finish strong and handle the Wildcats. I do not expect Zona to be able to put too many points on the board and although USC may not light up the score board either, I feel comfortable laying 7. 2.5 units. Loss . . . wow USC, what happened to you?

Houston -2.5 @ E. Carolina. Well, Houston can score and they are fun to watch; but they are frustrating as you NEVER feel say with them because their defense can give up points with the best of them - I'm actually not certain they don't practice giving up points instead of preventing them. And yes, I remember a few weeks ago when I said I liked focusing on defense this time of year; and I realize I'm going away from that here, but that's fine as E. Carolina should not be able to keep up with Houston. 3 units. Loss, typical Cougars.

Nebraska +14.5 vs Texas. Yes, again, I think the Longhorns win this game; BUT this is the Huskers chance and I think they play well. I admit, there is a chance (albeit small in my opinion) that Texas just dominates this game, but I don't think so. I think both D units will play well here and Texas will win an ugly contest to advance to the BCS championship game. And, I'm not going to lie, I like the hook here. 3 units. Win. Well, likely the 2 best teams will play for BCS Championship, but would have liked to see TCU.

So there you have it, and if you notice - although not intentional - I'm backing 5 teams that have RED as their team colors, I think that is a good sign . . . what else could it mean?? So much for that good karma . . .

Good luck!!
